'Yours Truly,' the E-Variations →
Since writing more emails at work and creating hard deadlines for writing personal emails to friends, family, and interesting internet acquaintances, email etiquette has become a genuine concern.
Some email habits:
Re-read completed messages at least twice before sending, checking not only spelling, grammar, and punctuation, but also — and more importantly — style.
Write openings...
Riverdale Garden - $5000 for One Year →
A restaurant in the Bronx is asking for $5000 “investments” from regular patrons to avoid going out of business. That money buys dinner for two once a week for a year. Or dinner for two once every other week for two years. Etc. This works out to around $50/meal/person.
I think this is an interesting idea, one I would be interested in if offered by a restaurant/eatery around here...
If you hear a voice saying you ‘should’ do something, it’s probably a bad idea.

I disagree. If I didn’t make concerted efforts towards doing things that I know I should do but do not feel like doing, I would just end up sleeping until 2pm, sitting alone in my room, rotting away.

– This essay was written by an 8th grader in Pittsburgh in the spring of 2004. The assignment was to pick an enangered species, and explain why it’s important to save it.

Drive to Talkeetna
Sunday, I got up early (on a weekend, no less — a miraculous event) and took a drive up to Talkeetna to try and see The Mountain (Denali). The weather had been perfectly clear the day before, so I thought my chances of actually seeing it were high. I was right.
The drive was easy. A streak of warm weather has melted all the snow and ice off of the highways.

I’m going to save/invest my measly $300.
The Huckabee quote pointed to in this link doesn’t seem right — some of the money will go to China, but much of it will pad the pockets of the US and international companies making the real profits, the ones who pay Chinese workers nothing and reap...

Recent Happenings
Working on a computer all day has had an adverse effect on my posting habits. There’s just no motivation to get off work, get home, and hop right back on a computer.
A summary of recent events:
Wii
I bought one. Maybe childish, definitely expensive, but fun, I tell you, fun! Getting all 120 stars in Super Mario Galaxy kept me busy for a week — getting them all again with Luigi...

I frequently get emails like this one:
Hey Zach, I really like your new homepage design. It’s more or less exactly what I’d like for a homepage and I’ve been quite tempted to just outright thieve it ever since I laid eyes on it. That impulse makes me feel a little dirty, but… I’m in a bind. I can’t think of any way to improve the sparse, aesthetic simplicity of your homepage! So… I’m...

Tumblr Customer Service = Awesome
I recently had two Tumblr bugs pop up.
Entering a basic anti-spam script to generate a clickable email link in the “Description” box broke the script.
Footnote anchor links were not properly generated from Markdown.
I e-mailed support about these problems about a week ago. Today, I received two emails reporting that these issues were fixed. And they are. That kind of response to...
